Page 1 of Sony owners unite. Any disc that won`t work ???? or regions.

I have none.... and I have well over 50 disc....

Regions 0,1,2,3,4 all work.... PAL NTSC....

No RCE hassle....

I have seen reports of RCE problems on the 335/6, But I have not met any yet on my MRM modified 336.

No problems on any of my 80+ discs for R1 & R2 on my modified 725. Even plays RCE discs.

Also plays the latest Dinosaur disc perfectly, which apparently is causing major problems to many other players, including the top models from Pioneer.

Does the layer change bug you or do you live with it...

I notice on some but not others...

I can live with it - saves getting up to change the disc over - always was a lazy sod.

Seems to depend on the disc with the worst so far being the Eurythmics Peace Tour concert disc. They put the layer change about 1 minute into a song - assholes! Movies seem mostly OK.

Finally, Sony seems to always get criticised for a slow layer change, but when I was buying mine, I checked out numerous other players from Pioneer, Toshiba and Denon, and they didn`t seem any faster.

I still think Sony are the best! So far nothing seems to defeat them and they generate a picture and sound that is awesome!

Lads, lads dont get carried away, the reason the layer change is there is so we Sony owners have half a second to reflect on those poor unfortunate souls who did not have the wisdom to buy Sony!

They are stuck either on the phone trying to get exchanges for there naff equipment, or having a go at the disc manafacture because their gear wont play it!

Sony there`s no other choice.

The Sony players are good, you get used to the layer change, and it`s no worse than other players.

So far it plays all of my 375 discs (mixture of R0, R1 and R2)

It plays RCE discs (Techtronics mod, plays RCE in both manual and auto mode)

Their are only 2 problem discs I know of:

Jungle Book R2 - freezes at start, Solution: Press stop then play to resume playback.
Heavy Metal R2 - nothing wrong with the movie, it`s just one of the extras one of the subsections of a picture gallery caused the player to freeze, it appears to be the same problem that affects Jungle Book, problem is that CT have featurelocked the STOP and PLAY buttons during this extra and so you can`t resume it and have to eject the disc.


None of the discs that cause problems on other players affect the Sony (725 in my case): ie, T2:UE, Matrix, Abyss, ID4, Wallace and Gromit. etc.
