Quite simply, there are no widescreen LCD`s that can touch the LG for £500.
The Bush ones, which are only marginally cheaper, are awful.
The Sony`s are better, but the widescreen ones are £200+ more expensive.
For the money, the LG is the only sensible widescreen option.
I have a mate works for John Lewis and he spent AGES with me plugging a Panny E50 into all the LCD`s they sell,so I could see my own set up for myself.
They are selling it for £599, but that is with a free 5 year guarantee. If you know anyone with a John Lewis card that gives you 10% off I believe. So that makes it £539 with a 5 year gurantee. That`s not a bad deal at all. :)

that is a good deal... Dont no anyone with a john lewis card but i got a £10 of voucher so £589 is still good. Are they going to come down in price as rapidly as they did last year????

Difficult to predict how the prices will come down..
It is one of their best-selling sets.
John Lewis do price match local stores, but not internet prices.
My advise would be to phone around your local stores and hope one of them does it cheaper, then take your price-match challenge + your voucher down to them !
Good luck !

well i havent got a john lewis store anywhere near me so im hoping they do it online???!!!
I cant really afford it yet so hopefully after xmas they may be a lil bit cheaper..
Another thing is that i currently have a 21" nicam stereo tv. Will i miss the 4" difference?
Im a student living at home so it will be used for everything like dvd watching, game playing etc... Therefore is 17" too small?

I got one sent to me this morning, and I can`t wait to get home.
It does seem like the best one for the price, but what I did notice was when you spend more money you get dolby prologic speakers which if your plugging into a cinema set-up you don`t really need.
Anyway I probably should have got it out of John Lewis ( 5 year warranty ) but I paid £484 and £10 postage from tvandvideodirect.com.
If it breaks after a year I`ll knock it over and claim the insurance.

I think the brightness and clarity of an LCD would make up for it.
Sounds like unbeatable.co.uk might be a godsend for you.
They are doing the LG for around £511 but, more importantly, they are doing interest free credit for 9 months !
You get 9 months in which to pay the full amount.Effectively `buy now pay later`
Look at their website, then look at their `able to buy` facility.
I`ve used it twice.
Great idea.

think i may just go for it. Got fed up with the space the old tv was taking up.... Just hope they dont go down in price a lot.

Chance you take Gside I`m afraid
For example,I bought my E50 for £300 some months back.
I haven`t even paid for it yet and they`re down to £240...
It`s the old trade-off between owning and enjoying now,or waiting and getting cheaper.
I can`t see LCD`s going down that much.
Not widescreen ones anyway.
