scart type macrovision buster- sold in glasgow anybody used one?

the heading says it all, i have found a shop in glasgow at "the barras " which sells this type of macrovision disabler for £30. it looks loke a scart lead but at one end there is an input for an adapter to power it.

if anyone has used this type of device i would like to hear your opinions ecspecially if it disables macrovision on R1 discs
