Toshiba SD-330 `Disc Error`??

TechGuy365 (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 13th January 2004, 21:31

Had a cheap £40 Matsui DVD which played various formats, importantly CD-R with Mpeg`s. Decided recently to `upgrade` to a Toshiba SD-330 player (highly recommended by everyone) so i could enjoy better quality pictures/sound etc. The Tosh plays mpg/jpeg on CD-R but for some reason mpegs on CD-R give a `Disc Error`!? What is going on? None of my CD-R`s with mpeg files on will play! How come a cheap player has no problems? Any ideas anyone? thinking of swaping back to Matsui player! :(

Are they SVCDs or VCDs or have you just put mpgs straight on a CD-R?

I know that the SD330 definately plays SVCDs and VCDs. I`ve got a friend who has one, and I`ve passed them over stuff.

They are VCD`s with the *.dat file in the MPEGAV directory etc and some CD-R`s with Mpegs straight to them. The Matsui i had never had no problem with either of them! Am starting to wonder if its anything to do with whether the player is multiregion enabled. Have`nt tested the SD-330 on R1 etc but i have have a feeling it may be just R2 (as bought it from Currys, someone i know has a SD-330 from Amazon which is multiregion hacked and they say they have no probs with mpgs or VCD`s!) Anyone with any ideas? Am not sure whether its just becasue its R2 or whether its a problem with the unit?

I got a Tosh 330 at Christmas.

I`m nnow trying to playback a pic slideshow burned onto a CDR-80 as a VCD using Nero.

When i play it i get the occasional distirted picture of picture with lines through it.

Its not the VCD as it plays ok on my sony dav and pacific

Any idea where the problem lies ? is it the toshiba firmware ?
