Hardware Forum
I am after a bit of help trying to decide on which dvd player to buy. I'm only looking at a fairly cheap but reliable system, nothing special. I've found two players that seem to fit the bill and wondered if anyone could offer me some advice as to which one to get. The players in question are:
Toshiba SD330 £79 from digital-point.co.uk
Aiwa XD-AX10 £59.99 from Sainsburys
Thanks for your help.

Have you considered the Pioneer 360
This is a very good player and set up via on-screen menu`s is a doddle
I got this from Superfi for £65.95 incld next day delivery see below link
http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/1429
It currently says £79.99 but I did a price beat via amazon
If you`re interested then e-mail Superfi saying you have found it cheaper and attached this link to the e-mail

They should reduce it to the price I paid

I am paying attention Kebabhead !
I tried it this morning, and they`ve sold one to me for the £66 !
It`s on it`s way.
An MR Pioneer 360 for a carry-out more than my mother paid for a Pacific.
I`m amazed and de-flippin-lighted !
Cheers !
RE: New DVD player help!!
Cheers kebabhead,
Not considered the Pioneer to be honest, I`d only looked at the two players I mentioned because they were recommended to me by friends, especially the Toshiba. But I think I might have to try your link and see if I can get it for a reduced price!! Is the pioneer multiregion, and if not is it easy to hack??
Thanks for all your help!
Soggs
It comes Multi-region. Just pop in the disc and away you go
Also when playing DTS tracks there no need to go into the menu`s to ensure the DTS is on. It does it for you.
Handles seamless branching in Alien Quadrilogy no problems at all

Cheers, looks like it does everything I need at a pretty good price, thanks a lot looks like my cash will be well spent!
Just a quick question though, how are the other 2 players in terms of seamless branching and multiregion, I only ask as my parents are looking at buying a dvd player finally and are not too keen on buying over the net so would prefer to go to a shop to buy one, would either of these do them?
Soggs
I can`t vouch for the other players. Maybee other forum members can
The only way to know is to demo the player in the shop and question the assistant
If you have a copy of Alien Quad then take it with you.
I think the film Identity which has just been released on R2 DVD has seamless branching, if you have that.
Buying from the net is safe as most reputable sites have encrypt your details so they can`t be hacked

Thanks again, I`ll try scanning the forums first on the other players.
I take it that seamless branching is fairly new which is why certain players can`t handle it, is it due to various scenes being on different layers on the disc?
I know buying on the net is safe, but try telling that to my parents who struggle to set the vcr to record on timer!!!! :)
