Page 1 of Xbox problem and TV problem

I seem to have this weird problem when I watch TV on my Sony 36inch widescreen TV or play the xbox. When the colour black in displayed you can see a sort of wave effect going across the screen in a slightly different shade of black. Its perfect when I watch DVDs on my Sony dvd player, so I don`t think its the TV.

Any ideas?

I`m no expert, but for what it`s worth, it sounds like some sort of interference to me. Is your TV aerial and/or downlead near to electric power cables or anything ? I say that because your DVD player would presumably be connected with a Scart cable and therefore bypassing the aerial.
