Page 1 of Panasonic SCHT500 vs. Pioneer DCS313..... It`s time to decide!

Please cast your votes here and a brief reason why.....
I`ve narrowed it down to these two systems based on price and specs to go with my Pannie TX32PS1. I`ve a fairly large room to fill, so all your ideas and suggestions would help me greatly. Sorry to post again, but no replies on hardware forum.

i`m in the same posistion i.e pionner 313 or panny 500

are there any more for or againts out there??

i`v heard that the pioneer will play everythng u chuck in it and the sound is much deeper and richer sounding. also the picture is ever so slightly better.

HAD THE SAME DILEMA I WENT WITH THE PANASONIC FROM RICHER SOUNDS AND CANT FAULT IT UP TO NOW...ONLY PURCHASED 30/1 STILL PLAYING WITH IT BUT MEGA IMPRESSED UP TO NOW FANTASTIC PICTURE AND SOUND EASY TO USE REMOTE AND GOODLOOKING BIT OF KIT.....WILL WATCH THREAD AS HOPE I MADE RIGHT CHOICE BETRWEEN THE TWO.

I am about to order the Panasonic SCHT500 from Richer Sounds. Richer`s spec says that the product is:

Multi Region
Optical digital Output
Includes Dolby Pro Logic (Is this Pro Logic II ???)

Can anybody confirm that these attributes are correct.

p.s. I had a good look at the Pioneer DCS313 and decided against it because a) The Subwoofer is passive b) No VCD/SVCD Playback c) No Digital decoder d) No Progressive Scan. I don`t know how important these features really are.

I bought the Pioneer DCS313 Multiregion and I tell you, it`s awesome. It DOES playback VCDs, it`s played all R1, R2, R3 discs I`ve put in, it plays back my JPEG photo albums and the surround on it is absolute amazing. I tested them both out and the Pioneer has much more features than the Panasonic.

Thanks for the info on the DCS313. It is good to know that it plays VCD`s. Please could you list some examples of features that it has over the Panasonic.

Also, where did you buy it? The DCS313 in Currys is Region 2 only :(
