SC2000 playing MPEG File from PC
Does anybody know what configuration a Mpeg file need to be to play correctly on the SC2000.
Tried one i had, it ran but the picture was garbled (coloured boxes top left of screen) and the sound was jittery.
RE: SC2000 playing MPEG File from PC
I too managed too get a garbled playback with a VCD I burned. I think I got the encoding wrong.
Look att http://www.vcdhelper.com for information and software to convert MPEG`s to standard formats. Also gives info on how to create VCD, SVCD, XVCD, miniDVD as well as sample CD images which you can download and burn to test your player.
I`d be interested in getting instructions from someone who has successfully managed to burn a VCD, SVCD, SVCD (PhotoCD), XVCD, or miniDVD and got it to play in the Scan. If I get them I`ll add it to the FAQ.
I`m just learning myself, so any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
NiVZ.

Vcdhelper.com is the best place to start and you should find all the information you need here. http://hv.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a.tcl?topic=Video%20CD is also a useful place to look.
You need decent CD Burning software. Both Nero 5.3.x and WinOnCD 3.7PE and 3.8PE will do this for VCD and SVCD`s. I have used all 3 sucessfully with my Scan. Keep looking out for the new Nero 5.5 which looks like being the best available. XVCD is not a standard yet and means many things to many people.
RE: SC2000 playing MPEG File from PC
I`ve managed to successfully burn a VCD. I used TMPENc to encode the file, following the instructions for MPG to VCD on the vcdhelper web page, then burned the disc using Nero 5.0.3.8 as a standard VCD.

Thanks for the quick response.
My first post - not going to be my last!
RE: SC2000 playing MPEG File from PC
Hi,
I have sucessfully burned about a dozen VCD`s of my own
( various clips of movies etc captured from either DVD or VHS )
For VCD the format has to be as follows
352 x 288 ( PAL 25 frames per sec ) for video
44.1Khz 224 KBit stereo
( I use a ATI ALL in wonder 128 to capture video)
Video bitrate set to 1150000 bits per sec
Then M1-edit ver 3 to edit clips together and
output the finished clip with VCD format selected as
output type.
Finally Nero version 5 to burn the actual VCD
Any I have play fine on my Scan
