Gentlemen Your Help Please What DVD do I Buy???

Richard159 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 2nd February 2004, 18:25

I am in the market to buy a DVD player after giving up trying to find a hack for my JVC.

I`m not looking at anything to flash, just a good reliable hard worker will pay upto £150 and would like the following as standard.

Multi Regional (Hackable at the very least).
Plays all formats (CDR, CDRW, SVC, Super VCD, DVD-R, DVD-RW)(DVD+RW?)
Plays MP3 & JPeg files
S-Video & Scart Connections
5.1 decoder (not a must)

Currently looked at:
Pioneer DV-360-S @ £89.98
LG DVD-6183 @ £70.00
Toshiba SD330E @ £100.00
Panasonic DVDS75 @ £130
Phillips DVD-625 @ £80.00

The pioneer is very tempting at £89.98 but without advice i`m not so sure, OR is there a better alternative that i`ve missed????

Cheers

Rich :)

From what I`ve seen, the Tosh seems to get good reviews, although I`ve got the Philips 625 which was bought multi region out of the box and am quite happy with it. Some I know would question the reliability of Philips stuff however.

i would look around again at toshs price, check out amazon, i was looking at getting the tosh from the reviews, but my mind is turning towards the sony DVP-NS330 Multi-region DVD Player. (this is the only place i have seen it multi-region out of the box) from amazon for the same price, Thing is for 100 notes now adays theres so much choice, A thing thats not mentioned much is remotes, I used have a philips player can not state it for all of them but this one the remote control was awful, no open close button, no zoom button, its little things like that are worth considering in a final choice as well in my opinion.

good hunting,

Thanks Guys,

I`ve spent most the night trawling the tinternet and all reviews are pointing to the pioneer DV-360 S. it`s getting 10/10 on most sites.

Is it as good as they say it is?? If so i`ll be out parting with cash tommorrow.

Thanks Again

Rich

I recently bought the Toshiba SD330 from Richer sounds, great machine, multi-region out of the box and has played everything I`ve thrown at it so far, and the best bit is that its only £66.95, cheaper than when I bought mine at the weekend!! Click here to see for yourself.
