Proline 2000 problem

Scott Grenney (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 6th March 2001, 15:18

Hi,

I was half way through watching "Spaced" when the player froze. Nothing on the remote worked so I tried to first stop the dvd (I think it already had as it made a few noises as like it was trying to read the disc). In the end I managed to get to the dvd player`s main menu and tried to re-read the dvd. It would not have it, so I tried another dvd which I had used before and again it refused to read it. I`ve tried powering it off / on and done everything I can think of to fix it. Looks like it`s dead :(

Is this a known problem? Or could this be a temp problem which I might be able to fix? I`ve got an electronics engineering background, but never been inside a dvd player so doubt it would be a good idea going in :/

Why is the Proline 2000 so s***e?

The 1000 model got really good reviews and has never failed me in any way, never rejected a disc or anything.

What were they thinking when they upgraded it? Did they mean to put a turd inside the new machine?

Some things just dont make sense.

the 1000 and the 2000 are made by different companies (the 2000 is an oritron - very bad reputation for faulty players)
i also had mine from comet and even though it clearly had several faults, it took me nearly three months to get a refund and im not the only one!

Ahh right thats ok, that makes sense.

I am totally satisfied with my 1000, it has given me a fantastic introduction to DVD and is flawless, for what it offers. Unless you dont like gold of course.

Aye.

Are there any specific discs that are having problems with the proline 2000?
