DVD picture off-centre

Peter Miles (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 1st April 2004, 20:08

I live in Britain, and have a new Pioneer DV-464 multiregion player, linked up to a Sony KV-X2563E TV, which is about 11 years old. Regions 1 & 2 play absolutely fine and picture quality is brilliant.
However, I`ve noticed that the picture is slightly off-centre, maybe 1-2 centimetres to the left. This is not noticeable when watching films, but when I have the DVD menu up, the first letter of some words on the left-hand side of the screen are not visible.
Is there any remedy for this? And has anyone else noticed this?
Thanks!
Peter

Are you connecting via RGB? If so, does the TV have an adjustment for it? My TV allows you to shift (and stretch) the picture to allow for this..

Yeah, I`ve noticed this horizontal shift on all sorts of things. Especially so when I watch one DVD on different format TVs using differing DVD players. Or when playing a DVD through the PC. It`s sometimes evident when I switch between 4/3, 16/9 picture modes etc on my widescreen TV. The shift varies enormously on PS1 games but it is handy that you can alter both the vertical and horizontal shift.

Sorry I have no remedy for you.

It`s only a point of view...
