Has anyone heard of a TV make called Beko, and what can they tell me about them?

Hi..
They`ve been around for years...Our fridge (Beko - yep, they seem to make every electrical device going ;) )..broke down after only 3 months, but was repaired & has been fine since (5 years ago)...My father-in-laws friend had a 20" tv by them, but gave up the ghost after 2 years :( .
Personally,i`d put them in the Bush/Alba catagory (cheap `n` cheerful)
Hope this helps,
Mark ;)

As Mark said, they are at the el cheapo end of the market.
They are run by an outfit in Turkey.
They sell under a different brand name in Ireland (I forget what it is).
They have connections with a design firm that started out last year in Harrogate called Fusion (run by an ex Pace director) .
A websearch will tell you more.

:D We have repaired quite a number of these sets and are not at all impressed with them. The most common failing is in the line output stage-lopt flashover which does destroy the line output transistor-sometimes due to ht problems, flyback tuning failure and the line drive is some times incorrect which also destroys the line o/p transistor on switch on.
As regards the bush sets-the AK19 chassis are as bad but reliability is much better after they have had their first (and very soon after the guarantee hads run out) sevice.
Known faults are again to do with the line o/p stage(most common ones ive done)= picture too wide=no e/w correction due to o/c feed resistor for e/w modulator.Caused by poor soldering at one leg of capacitor c630-which will also destroy the line o/p transistor.
picture too wide=d612 failure,picture int,too wide=poor soldering on one leg of L602.
The list could go on and on ,the main causes of these failures seems to have a lot to do with the soldering of certain components in the line out put stage of these sets.

DON`T TOUCH THEM !
My brother`s one burst into flames, despite a supposed repair to alleviate the risk of it doing exactly that !
He was lucky he was in,and so were the people in the flat above !
Avoid avoid avoid. >:(
