Eltax Casa DVD/CD combo skips and clicks

wolliwuk (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 10th April 2004, 16:54

I purchased a Eltax Casa Combo DVD/CD system. I am very pleased with the quality but have noticed that on some VCD`s and audio Cd`s that I can here the disc sort of skip as it goes round. This reults in a frame skip when watching pictures and an annoying click when listening to quiet Cd`s. It sounds like the disc isnt spinning properly. Does anyone have any idea what is happening and is there anything I can do about it.

:) Your problem seems to be a regular thing with most dvds i come across for repair-the cause could be a number of things ,the main one due to emmission problems with the dvd optical block. You could cure it temporarily by altering settings in your dvd players service mode but be careful what you adjust....your dvd player will dislike incorrect settings!!
The only permanent cure is to replace the optical block with a new one-if that is the cause of your problem. How old is your dvd player??

Hi Mike
It is only a month old. I am reluctant tos send it back to where I got it as it was an internet purchase from QED and it would inevitably involve some hassle.
