Scan SC-2000 (http://www.scan.co.uk/dvd.htm)

Labway X-Wave - This player is chipped and macrovision free (http://www.business-ecommercesoftware.co.uk/business/svpcomm/Online_Catalogue_DVD_and_MP3_Players_8.html)

Please leave your opinions and comments. Thanks.

Ok then why do you want a DVD player?
tell me that and i can tell you if the scan is the one for you.
these are not bad little boxes but are not for everyone, and as DVD players go there are better. But is it the best for you?
any way let me know and i try to be as helpfull as i can.
and if bear says any thing it will be B/S.

as for the x wave i know nothing, but now i have said that i dont THINK they need to be chipped.

I fyou have a choice between the xwave and the scan at a similar price get the xwave as it has a better ess chipset inside!

and scan are p*** farting about with firmware upgrades.....they should test the bollix of them before releasing!

Im kinda in the same position as you. I did have a Scan SC-2000 but sent it back as the colour was grey in dark scenes which was a shame as otherwise its good. So im also now on the hunt for a new player.
Thing is im interested in the Toshiba but they are not multI-regional out of the box which is a pain.
Im kinda interested in the Bush also.
Im wanting a player that has a great picture and sounds and good colour.
And is Pal / NTSC im not sure if this is a standard thing in all players or not. Dolby Digital,.
But mainly Multi-regional . And not to pricey. And of course a good sharp picture.

Scan ,problems , hassle, buy CDRW you will need it for frying your chips!

And after you sent it back, Go for a brand name . SONY , TOSHIBA , HITACHI , PIONEER!

It`s been said before bear, Get back to the zoo! And as for all your advise on purchasing ones with a "brand" name do you really think all those brands produce their own DVD players? NO! Smaller compained produce them and the name Sony or whatever is badged on the front as in the case of the Scan SC-2000.

well the scan player plays mp3, vcds, Svcd, Cd and can play them all from CDR or CDRW, its multi region without voiding you GT and macrovision can be removed.
and its firmware can be updated by the user. now what order of importance would you put these in and why?

then i can give you some feed back.
by the way the problem of the colours can be sorted out if you tv can store more than one set up for your colours, or you dont mind changing them each time you play a film. Just get hold of a disc with the THX set up on.

MP3 is probably the most important feature becaue I have a CD writer and can make some good compilation discs. VCD I`m not too bothered about because the qualty is poor. I would like to be able to transfer to VHS but I thought you couldn`t disable macrovision on the Scan player? What does upgrading the firmware do? How is it done? And is it necessary? Is there alwats a problem with colours of the Scan player because I just wanna sit down and watch a film, I don`t want to be messing aound with colours. Quite a lot of questions there I know, Thanks.

Well i did alter the colour on my tv but i still couldnt get ir as good as it could be and to alter it each time is a pain. Where as on other dvd plyers there is no need to alter the colour.
