Problems with Pioneer 717. Can anyone help?

Andrew W (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 13th March 2001, 22:58

I am new to home cinema and have just bought a Pioneer 717 DVD player and a Toshiba 32WD98B tv. I also have a VCR and a digital cable box. Everything is connected to the tv using SCART leads. The VCR and cable work fine. However, when I play DVDs, the tv picture `ghosts` through the DVD picture. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try to fix this? Many thanks.

Many thanks for that suggestion. However, if I disconnect everything but the tv and the DVD player, the resulting `snow` from having no tv signal still shows through the DVD picture. While this is not as bad as the ghosting, it still reduces picture quality noticeably, particularly during darker scenes. Any more suggestions as to what I can try to fix this?
UPDATE - It turns out that the SCART cable which came with the DVD was faulty. Replacing it solved the ghosting problem. Thanks again for your help.
