Page 1 of Micro Hi-Fi`s connecting to more than one pair of speakers

Not sure if this has been asked before (and I apologise if it has), but I am looking to buy a micro hi-fi for our bedroom and connect two additional pairs of speakers to it via a speaker switch (one pair to be put in the bathroom). I don`t want to spend vast amounts on the system, as was looking at £200 for the hi-fi (obviously cables, speaker switch, and additional speakers will be extra).

First of all, is this possible, and secondly does anyone have any views on which hi-fis will allow this, and which should I be looking at?

Hi richard, if you are using a switch to run speakers in another room, instead of the room the hifi is in, then you should not have a problem at all. As far as the hifi is concerned, there is still only 1 pair connected, the switch just decides which pair that is.

You will only, possibly, get a problem when trying to run more two or more pairs of speakers at the same time.

for every extra speaker you add to an output, you double the power draw on that output, most hifi`s can run 2 pairs of speakers at the same time providing it is at moderate volume and not for long periods. Although you instruction manual will probably tell you otherwise.

I wouldnt try running 3 pairs at the same time though, probably pushing it a bit to far.
