DVD Recorder + VCR Combi

Slimbo (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 14th July 2004, 18:22

I`ve been looking for a DVD Recorder for some time with the hope of replacing my VCR for good, but having read numerous reviews it seems as though this is just not practical yet. In my opinion we are quite a few years away from not needing a VCR somewhere in the house.

With that in mind I started to have a look at DVD & VCR combis, but the ideal solution would be to have a DVD Recorder & VCR combi.

This is when I stumbled across the JVC DR-MV1, which is exactly that. Reading the specification it seems to do the job of top-end stand alone DVD recorder, but with added benefits of being able to DUB both ways & record two sources at the same time (obviously on the seperate drives !).

This seems the perfect solution, but as it is such a new product, I just can`t seem to find a review of the machine.

In my search I have discovered are a very small handful of other DVD Recorder & VCR combis, but the JVC seems the better spec.

Therefore, I am asking if anyone has any comments regarding the JVD DR-MV1. Does it sound too good too be true, or is it still a case of needing seperate machines & cables ?
