Advice from DMRe55 owners please... is mine dead on arrival or have I missed something

Muppetboy (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 10th August 2004, 17:26

Just got my DMRE55, read the manual and plugged her in and .... well not much really. I get the clock flashing 0:00 and a little display beside it which looks like this -------- and pans left to right kind of like the scanner on knight Rider! Nothing appears on the screen (I am fine with tuning in the TV) After about 5 mins the scanner thing stops and it says BYE and thats it. I have tried all combinations and nothing happens. I hear no noise from the box, no fan , will not open or close. Can someone confirm if this sounds like a DOA as I gotta pay postage back >:( (got it off internet from RBG in UK).

Many thanks

Are you connecting it with scart, if so are you pushing the A/V on the TV remote? The CD tray should open, I presume it`s not got tape or anything over it.
If it is faulty then RGB should pay the postage back, or at least refund you the postage. I had good service from them in the past.

Thanks for reply Paull.... yes I am using the scart and am scanning all 3 av inputs but nothing is appearing. My pioneer DVD is working fine down the same scart....(not at the same time of course!) ...... but as you say even the door wont open so I guess its a DOA... what terrible luck huh !! How long did it take them to get a good replacement to you ??

cheers

I bought my Toshiba picture frame TV from them. (2 years ago) There was a faulty tube so they contacted Toshiba & got Toshiba to bring the replacement to my house. However I would think your DVD recorder will be swapped.
