LG DVD5253 - Disk Error

reddapper123 (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 4th October 2004, 15:08

OK, I have applied the multi region hack, the VCD hack and any other hack that is available at this site, but I am still getting a DISK ERROR when I put in the disk of my wedding.
The disk works fine on my laptop and on my parents Toshiba SD-230E but why won`t it work on my DVD player.

Any help please as my wife is going mad because it won`t work???

Thanks,

Dave

Only thing I could suggest would be that you copy the disc to another brand. I have heard and read of some recorders/players being a bit picky where the media is concerned. If that does not help at least you will have a back up for posterity and will only have wasted about £1 and half an hour of your time.

Thanks for the quick response. Any particular brand of media you recommend??

Not too sure again if these are the best but I have never had any problems at all with either of the Datawrite DVD/R- 4X Red or Yellow label. They are reaonsably priced and from my experience very reliable. I had a look at http://www.videohelp.com and there are a couple of users that have had a few problems with some discs so that may be the problem.

BTW Red, if you click on the link/address in the post you will be taken to the site. Other than DVD Reviewer this is one of the best sites for technical information and advice on a variety of problems DVD wise.

vcd and svcd hack
Used the following to get it to play VCD and SVCD . But VCD 2.0 and svcd works!

1. Power on the player with no disc in the drive.
2. Press Pause on the remote control.
3. Using the remote control, key in the following: 1, 4, 7, 2 (the
characters 01 47 should appear on the display) [If your player is a non UK
model, this number will probably be different - don`t worry]
4. Press the back arrow one time (the characters 08 Fd should appear on the
display)
[This number may be different depending on the configuration of your
specific model - don`t worry]
5. Press Program, 6, Program, 5 (the characters 08 FE should now be
displayed( if you use 04 it will change the screen to black and white or in some case it will be green screen).
6. Press Enter (the display should flash briefly).
7. Press Return.
8. Power the player off and then back on.
9. Play a VCD! (when it comes up press play again and your movie will play)

This hack really works fine!!!

Do the same as svcd instead of 08 have it as 06

this will not affect the dvd,cd,mp3 player but it will help you

i do not have the region code
