Are there any VCR`s that disable macrovision?
I have recently purchased a phillips 711, are there any video players available from high street stores which automatically disable macrovision.
Cheers

no you will have to buy an external macro remover or try an old ferguson vcr otherwise get your philips chipped

Or you can find the service details for the video you buy and change the required cap to a higher value.
Incidentally, not all older Ferguson models couldn`t see the macro signal!
I have an FV95 (around 6 years old) and it sees the macro!

Thanks for the reply,
Is it guaranteed that if I get the multi-region chip it will disable macrovision? Do you know - where is the best place to get a phillips 711 chipped - how much would it cost and would it take long to do? Sorry for all the Q`s but I presume you have already done this.

Cheers for the reply Jimbo - I am not quite sure what you mean by "changing the required cap to a higher value". Is this something I can do myself - I`m no electrician - can you use a remote or something. (excuse my ignorance)

I have a 4 year old ferguson VCR and the macro signal is there until you press record. Once you press record the vcr disables it!
Not that I would dream of using my VCR to record DVDs ;-)
