Wharfedale M5 plus Videologic DigiTheatre

DazMack1979 (Elite) posted this on Friday, 18th May 2001, 23:34

Hoping somebody might be able to help me out here, being somewhat non-technically minded when it comes to amps and speakers etc.
:o)

I have just ordered the Wharfedale M5 as a replacement for a sadly knackered (and much mourned) Matsui 110, which I used with the Videologic DigiTheatre 5.1.
I read that the M5 has a built-in DTS decoder, so does this mean that I should simply be able to connect my 6 speakers to the M5 itself and get full DTS, with no need for the Videologic decoder?

If this is the case, what`s a reasonable price for a 6 month old decoder? Offers if anyone`s interested... :o)

Any help much appreciated, thanks.

yOU WILL STILL NEED YOUR DigiTheatre. The sockets on the back of M5 are not amplified.

Hope thats OK. Anymore question just let me know

Educator: you`re right that he`ll still need the amp from the videologic, but that`s in the subwoofer not the decoder so the digitheatre decoder is no longer necessary. However, unless the M5 has a volume control on the handset (maybe it does, I don`t know) he`ll only be able to change volume using the knob on the front of the subwoofer.
Hope this clarifies things.
Dave

Thanks guys, you`ve been really helpful. I usually stick to the subwoofer volume control anyway so no probs there.

Now, anyone know what a 6 month old DigiTheatre decoder would be worth?
