R1 Compatability with Sony Trintron Wega TV`s

Wurzel (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 20th May 2001, 22:04

Does anyone know that if my DVD player is made region free, will the R1 DVDs be in B+W or have skipping and other "bad" things on the TV. The TV is very new but I dont know if it supports NTSC signal. I dont want to spend 60 quid on something that doesn`t work properly.

Wurzel,

I have a Sony WEGA widescreen TV (KV28DS20U) which I have had for over a year. This shows Region 1 pics (from my Sony DVD735 player) without a hitch. I would be very surprised if your newer TV wasn`t also compatible with the American system. The manual should confirm this.
