OK for everything that does NOT use the VCR`s tuner but instead supplies audio and video into the VCR`s A/V inputs - normally SCART sockets(s).
The sound subcarrier is at a different separation over here (PAL I) , 6.0 Mhz versus 5.5 MHz if I remember rightly.
This means that your VCR when used in Cyprus to record (analogue) terrestial programmes wouldn`t record the sound from Cyprus TV. If you use a SCART socket connection you can direct record (sound and video) from satellite ; to record a TV progamme you would have to use a Cypriot TVs SCART output into the VCR`s A/V input ; the TV would have to be switched on and you couldn`t record one (terrestrial)programme whilst watching another.
This would rule out simply setting up the VCR to record terrestrial TV the easy/normal way using the VCR`s built-in tuner .

hi and thanks a lot chris. i have a decoder needed for a local tv station which have SCART and through which i can view the other local stations. it is not digital though. its like your old sky(the analogue one). if i connect my recorder on that will it work or it has to be digital?

Yes it`ll work if connected via SCART.
