Jerky playback with R1

I have a JMB dvd3000 remote hacked to play R1.
Playback is stuttering just enough to spoil my viewing.
Is this a problem with all R1 players or are some better than others?

Hiya

Try setting your player to auto instead of pal in the set up menu, also is your tv ntsc compatable.
