Help! - DVD-R / +R compatable DVD player

ahmisterbond (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 15th April 2005, 08:17

Hi Guys, now I know that this has been touched on before, but I really need to get a true DVD-R / +R compatable DVD player. I`ve tried the Cambridge 57 one (froze - though looking at their website I think it might be DVD+R only) Toshiba 340 (the award winner) zero success with any brand DVD-R - and a Tosh 530, which was good, if a little fussy about the media. Before people tell me that it`s the media, these discs all worked fine in my father in law`s cheap Grundig, and my brothers Marantz 4300 (which you don`t seem to be able to get anymore).

I`d also like MP3 (particularly from DVD) capability and sound`s really important. My budget`s up to about £150.

Any ideas? I`ve tried the normal web forums (afterdark etc) but most of these deal with this issue from a US perspective and recommend wall mart products.

thanks guys

Hi, I saw your post on DVD-Reviewer and wondered which model you ended up buying. I am in a similar dilema at the moment and need to buy a new player that will happily play DVD-Rs and (not as importantly) DVD+Rs.

Cheers.
