SKYWORTH 3650 - New Denver Firmware ?!!

jlgmax3 (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 25th May 2005, 06:13

I have just been onto the Denver Electronics site and they seem to be linking to a new "unofficial" firmware version for the Denver 188 DVD player made by the MTZ website a couple of weeks ago. They are credited with thanks for the firmware on the Denver site.

I know that a few people had flashed their Skyworths with Denver firmware to address jerky playback issues - but has anyone flashed their Skyworth with this new version ? Features seem to be as follows:

1. Big subtitles, white, outlined with black.
2. New fonts for menu and subtitles.
3. New backgrounds; english OSD "re-translated" in 188 version.
4. Added support for all European languages.

Can anyone who has tried this let me know the outcome ? eg Are the buttons on the player still incorrectly mapped ? Is the welcome screen still corrupted ? Is the OSD improved at all ?

Finally, if I were to brave it and try the file for myself, is it possible to flash back to the Skyworth firmware if anything goes wrong, or is this a "one time only" operation ?

Cheers !
