copying from sky box office
Hi,
I have recently purchased a Sonel scart lead which I was told would allow me to do the above. I am still unable to copy from box office and get the standard error, something like `recording prohibited`.
Any tips?
geordie :)
Not too sure bit it may simply be that the VCR/DVDR has a macrovision routine ? written in to the firmware.
If you have a DVDR then have a wee swatch on http://www.videohelp.com and search under the DVD Hacks section and you may find a hack that will disable the macro.
As I said , not too sure but have a wee look anyway .
Choagy FFCUK the SPL :)
Try changing the output of the Sky box from 16:9 to 4:3.
If this fails or you wish to copy in anamorphic format you may need the additional power supply that Sonel offer.
The current used by Pin 8 to switch to 16:9 may be needed to power the lead.

RE: copying from sky box office
Thanks for the tips guys, I checked out the website but there is no hacks listed for the SEG DVDR 500. What is the easiest way to change the output of the sky box without entering the engineers menu via the handset??
Sky can be changed from wide to standard by going to services then picture settings
RE: copying from sky box office
I have tried the above but to no avail,
as soon as I press record on the SEG DVDR500 remote, `recording prohibited` apears in the top left of the tv screen.
Any other ideas guys?

You will have to get the Sonel optional power supply
