The choice is a bit limited, but yes there are...

Try looking at a few specialist Hi Fi stores such as www.hifibitz.co.uk or www.superfi.co.uk

Alternatively, some DVD players can also play CDs which contain MP3s, or you can connect a normal MP3 player (e.g. an iPod) to your Amp (the results are surprisingly good)

I was after a similar solution to you, so I got something like this or this. Mine is the old silver model with the big volume knob, but these are much smarter.

Link up a decent 5.1 system and, if you have a tv with S-video, its a media center. plonked 2 old 256dimms I had, an old 30gb hdd and a radeon 9200All-in-wonder and a 2000xp (went for the AMD version).

I initially only had a DVD drive in it but since the price came down so much, I put a DVD-RW in there and now its pretty much a PVR.

Really chuffed with it. Oh, and you need at least a wireless mouse ;).

Its quite an expensive option. It took about £300 to get it rolling initially, plus other bits and bobs ive added over the last few years, but it works a treat.
