Got a DCR-TRV18E and for some inexplicable reason it won`t eject the tape that`s currently inside. The self-diagnostic has given me 2 codes. c-21 and c-32-10. According to the manual all you have to do to resolve these problems (both apparantly are a result of moisture inside the unit) is to eject the tape and leave it for about an hour.
Seeing as that appears to be the main problem i`m a bit stuck. I called my local Sony Centre and they want at least £200 up front before they`ll even look at it.
Also a while ago a few ot the front end functions stopped working too. The infra-red transmitter and receiver doesn`t work, neither does the fader button, although the microphone still works fine.
Any tips before I take a screwdriver to the bloody thing?

Stantz,
A bit of a longshot I know, but is the battery charged? is their enough juice in their to power the eject motor.
Cracking toast, Gromit!
... If found, please return this person to the insane asylum, as it would really annoy them if you do that :¦
yup. everything functions as normal with the exception of anything that moves the MiniDV tape.
All I really want to do is to transfer the 6hours of honeymoon footage onto the PC so i can start editing it, unfortunately, I can`t do that with this poxy tape stuck in there

Bit puzzeld here, how do you transfer your tape onto the computer when its out the machine? I thought you would connect the camcorder to the PC or DVD recorder and go from there,if its stuck in the machine cant you transfer it from there?
Sounds like the push to contact switches on your camcorder could need a clean also I would leave the camcorder in a warm room and hope it would dry out over a few days or even weeks, how old is the camcorder by the way? :)
It`s been in a warm room for about a month!
The 6+hours is on 4 separate tapes. I can easily connect the camcorder to the PC, but there`s no point unless I can get the correct tapes in the camcorder.
The tape that`s in the camcorder right now won`t do anything. Play, record, fast forward or rewind. Or, indeed, eject.

RE: Sony Camcorder problem
I`ve seen this before!
Try removing the battery and then replacing it a few seconds later then open the door, repeat a few times, works quite often. If this doesn`t work it needs servicing. Good luck.
Nope, no joy. The door will open, but the eject mechanism doesn`t fire up. I get a beep, so it knows the door is open.

Shame that. I think the technical term they use at Sony Japan is, it`s Borrocksed.
