My TV Just Went Bang, Advice On A Replacement 32
As the title says, our trusty old Toshiba 2557db died yesterday aged 12, looks like it is going to cost a fortune to repair so finally got the excuse I need to replace it.
I can afford a maximum of £1000 for a new TV (ideally less) but can`t decide what to get, a cheapy supermarket set to keep me going, a good CRT or a basic LCD.
I really do fancy an LCD but worried it is not going to be very good for my £1000 budget so am after some advice.
I have looked at Toshiba`s again as very pleased with our old TV and quite like the look of the new 32WL56, however after reading up a bit here on the site I have been looking at the Samsungs and the LE32R41B falls withing my budget.
Just wondered if anybody had seen these 2 sets running and if so are they any good. Or would you recomend anything else.
Have driven around all the high street retailers today but they didn`t have a great deal on display, got the impression they were all last years models.
Not bothered about sound as will continue to use suround system for audio.
Edit: just been looking at this Sharp LC32P50E, only £811 from Ebuyer.
Thought I should put the connections I use in also.
Sky Digital Box - TV scart 1
Toshiba VCR - TV scart 2
Toshiba SD220E DVD - S-Video & Co-Ax to Amplifier
X-Box - S-Video & Optical to Amplifier
Denon Amplifier - S-video to TV input 3, audio from TV
I also plug my laptop/camcorder in to the front of the TV via S-video lead. would like to still be able to do this if possible.
All the best
Ger.

RE: My TV Just Went Bang, Advice On A Replacement 32
Thanks to all who read, understand it is tricky subject to say the least.
I have been looking a bit further and have ruled out the Sharp do to poor resolution and the Toshiba due to too few connections on the back. The main one missing is the audio out, meaning I can`t connect it to my amp.
I have found a new Toshiba that I am very interested in, it is the Toshiba 32WLT58, it has loads of connectors including 2 HDMI interface`s & side connectors for the camcorder.
It is available from TribalUK for a shaving under £1050, slightly over budget but think it may be worth it. Anybody know of this company, they seem pretty good. Showing up on Pricerunner & Kelkoo with pretty good reviews.
All the best
Ger.

The Panasonic 32 TX LXD52 is very similar to the Toshiba and you can get it for £1090 on kelkoo (£40 more costly but It is the bees knees) It brother, the LXD 500 is the UKs NO.1 lcd according to What home cinema magazine which is basically the same tv (The only difference is that it has an SD slot for MPEG4 recording) so the LXD52 is a screen worth the extra cash
