My dad has the same problem with his. First of all the people at Sky said it was because of the channels he was recording - paramount 2 usually, breaking up. But, even though the program would freeze, you could start it playing from further on and see that it was all recorded.
Anyway, next reason was that the sky box was too full. It was pretty full, and they had a lot of series links - stuff repeated twice a day, every day, so the hard drive was being kept pretty busy.
The last thing they tried was to completely reboot - not just turnihng it on and off at the wall, but card out, wait 30 seconds or so, etc. This seems to have worked pretty well so far.
Tried that?

Evenin` folks :)

We have the Multiroom option with two Sky+ boxes and have had problems in the three weeks since they were installed.
Phoned Sky and told them that unless we received replacement PVR3 (80 Gig boxes) they could stick their Sky up their rings.
End result we are getting two new replacement boxes installed on Tuesday.
Tell them the same, that unless you get a new box you will cancel the subscription and you may get a better response.

:) thanks - whoot finally got through to sky+ tech dept, this guy talked me through the sytem setup which delete`s all that`s saved on the hardrive. this is the second time in a year I`ve done this ,think I may need a new box soon, although it seems to work again don`t know for how long, but thanks for your post gazzzzzzzz.

:) thanks Choagy as the post above, but my sky+ box is 2 years old, there`s a charge of £65 for an engineer to come out I`d rather pay £49 for another sky+ box at the moment
thanks again gazzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

£49 is only for new customers.
Existing customers can pay £99,but then only if they start a multiroom setup.
Otherwise its £199,and for that you can choose either a PVR3 with a 160GB drive of which you can only use half,or you can get a Sky+160 for the same price.Either will add an extra £60 for installation if you don`t start multiroom, and if you buy one and simply connect it up yourself, the Sky will not honour any warranty period, even if the box is new.
The £65 charge is a good deal as it involves replacing absolutely anything needed to get you back to perfect viewing, and you get a 3 month warranty on the work

if you ring sky and say you are thinking about cancelling as you think the £65 charge is far too much, and get put through to the right person in retentions dept they might offer to replace it for free...they did with mine...

lots of helpful sky+ info over at forums on www.digitalspy.co.uk
