ESS video chipsets

I have read recently that some machines use ESS chipsets and are prone to blocking and poor picture quality. Does anyone now which manufacturers use this chipset so I can make sure the player I buy doesn`t have this problem?

Hitachi 505 (puke) and old Yelo`s. Sampo clones, Scan`s and probably many more.

Sorry the new scans have not used ESS chipsets since october last year.We were the first people to realise how bad it was.
