Dolby digital without a digital amp

andypmoore (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 22nd August 2001, 15:42

I have a marantz sr-390 dolby pro-logic amp and am wanting to buy a dvd player.

If a buy a dvd player with a dolby digital processor in it is it possible to use my current amp for dolby digital without needing to upgrade. If so how do i wire it. I know players with decoders have analogue outputs for each channel, but is it possible to wire this up to the amp.

Thanks
Andrew

If your amp has 6 chanel imputs then you should be ok.

Hope this helps,

Andrew.
