U will probably have to finalize disc to allow it to be played!
U may have to format disc b4 u can record onto it! U do if they r rewriteable ones ;)

Didnt u get instruction booklet with recorder? :o

first you`ll need to knoe the formats ie dvd+r dvd-r dvd-rw and dvd+rw formating any of these just means (like on a computer you make them usable for that particular type of disc drive so when you formata dvd any of the above (depending on which of these your machine is compatible with) you will only be able to record onto them with that drive
although they will playback on most drives that will accept recordable dvds (perhaps your pc or dvd player)

now finilizingdvd-rw dvd-r and dvd+r all require finilizing prior to playing them in other machines dvd+rw is an exception as this is `ready play` can be played in another machine straight after recording has taken place great if your in a hurry!

finalizing just means to `close` or `end` a disc ready for playback (reading only) in other equipment. for a disk to be `recordable` for your pc it would have to formatted by your pc
same as it would have to be foramatted by your dvd recorder to be `recordable` in it

hope this is helpful

dvd+r and dvd-r can only be recorded once can be erased but the space used will not be reclaimed.

dvd-rw can be written over again and again but to do so you have to ither reformatt or unfinalize these options appear when your using this type of disk (depend on recorder`s compatability)

dvd+rw can be wrtten to again and again no finilzing required you can re-write straight away . just remember to delete unwanted data first you don`t want to run out of disc space!!

if your dvd recorder is your primary movie player you don;t really need to finalize the disks but safer if you do if you decide to get another recorder /player in the future you`ll want them to play in it!
