Help with 32" Widescreen sets
Last night my 4:3 set stopped working and as its an ex rental and the model is about 8 years old Im going to get a new widescreen set. Earlier than I would of liked but.....
So Im looking at either:
1. The Philips 32PW6006 at £502.45 in deliv. from unbeatable.
Or
2. The Hitachi C32W511TN for £480 inc delv from cheapesttv.co.uk.
Has anyone any advice about this, or any other sets in the same price range that you can reccomend.
I am a bit wary of cheapesttv.co.uk, as you are getting a grade A set with only a 90 day warranty. Its a lot of money to blow if it all goes belly up after the warranty runs out.
But, the Hitachi is dolby pro logic and the Phillips is not. Does this make a difference as Iv not got an amp or external speakers so what would be best for the future as I no doubt will buy and amp + speakers in the future ?
Oh, and are the stands any good, as the Hitachi has a stand but the Phillips does not ? Where could you buy a good stand ? Any ideas ?
Any help would be most appreciated as this will be my first widescreen set.
I`m thinking about the 6006 too - can`t find many reviews of it, but Philips tubes seem to be pretty good at the moment.
How about Ikea for stands - the catalogue tells you what weight they`ll take - we already have something from there with our existing tele on (which is also dying) - some silly name, but it will take 70kgs. I really don`t like most TV stands anyway - makes the TV look even more dominating.
Unbeatable do the 6006 with a stand for more money (6006C), or empiredirect do the 6005 with stand for a bit less - haven`t got a clue what the difference between 6006 and 6005 is, though.

I have the 28inch version of the Philips tv and it is a good tv for the money, has several widescreen modes, doesnt have dolby but has something called incredible surround, sound & picture quality is good. Strange that 32" doesnt come with a stand as mine did ??? Not sure how good the hitachi is but would have thought it was also a good buy for the money, have had a hitachi tv before and would buy hitachi again.
Philips - you can also buy it with stand - personally I like that choice, as I don`t want to spend extra for something that`s going to go straight into the garage.
