Your question is impossible to answer based on the scant details supplied.
What make and/or part number were both cables ?
Do you have a link to them ?
Are they 1 metre long, 10 metres long or what ?
For distances above 10 feet or 5 metres (depending on who you talk to) it is worth going for reasonable quality because the frequency response of the cables can start to distort the signal due to "frequency tilt" (possibly fixable using equalisation) and result in bit errors.
Above 20 or 25 metres equualisation becomes essential.
sorry mean`t advice in general for the cables just wants some fairly good quality leads at not 2 expensive a price.
the two i mentioned were just what he mentioned to me without going into specifics.
I just get the cheapest DVI or HDMI cables I can. As the signal is digital, not analog, the signal doesn`t degrade as an analog cable might, it either transmits the signal or not.
I`ve bought a few DVI-HDMI leads from ebay, for about £8, and all have been fine. I haven`t bought any over 4 meters but I wouldn`t have thought that longer ones would have given any problems.
bought one off ebay, 1.5m long £8 delivered. works a treat had no problems with my samsung dvd to toshiba lcd.you don`t always have to buy mega expensive kit for it to give pleasing results.hope this helps
