Page 1 of Sky+ Box Query

My father is about to upgrade to Sky HD which would leave a spare sky+ box lying around.
If I phone Sky to tell them that I have purchased a box elsewhere and wish to subscribe to Sky+ will my fathers old box work with my current viewing card? Or do I have to purchase a Sky+ card?
I hope I have explained the above clearly enough.
Many thanks in advance

You don`t need a new viewing card, but you have to ask them to upgrade your subscription to Sky+ (costs nothing) and pair the card to the box to get it to work.
That MAY take 2 phone calls, as it is actually 2 different departments! :/
Also you may need to upgrade ya LNB thingy. Sky+ needs 2 connections so if you have a single you will need to upgrade. I would suggest you get a quad LNB in case you need to add to it later and have multiroom.

Thanks both, thats helped me a great deal.
I cant tell you how much I`ve missed Sky+ since I moved out!!
Ah, well done Jackal - I forgot that bit!
Yes of course - if you are good at DIY you can add change the LNB over and get some Satellite Co-Ax with connectors to do the job yourself, or else you`ll need to get a local installation guy round to do the job.
