Page 1 of samsung dvd player +lcd driving me mad

recently bought a samsung 37"r8 lcd tv and connected my samsung hd850 upscailing dvd via hdmi.problem is when i turn to the hdmi ext channel on my tv, it just gives me a screen full a multi coloured dots or a distorted player menu,this happens most times although sometimes it is fine. it happens through all three channels,i have tried two different hdmi leads, thing is my xbox360 elite is spot on every time. please help as iam gutted.

maybe you need to tell the dvd player to output to hdmi? check in the menu

seems to work if i power the tv of then switch on the dvd, then power the tv back on ! any answers,xbox still connects every time no problems
