My TV only has an AV scart RGB but my DVD has both scart RGB and an s-video output. Aside from using scart to scart would using the dvd`s s-video to the tv`s scart improve the picture? I`m new to the whole scene so help would be useful.
As long as you use a decent scart cable, then the output should be as good scart to scart. The general opinion is that RGB is slightly better than svideo, but it can depend on the individual TV, so a decent scart (with all wires connected) will allow you both options - the DVD player should have a menu option to determine whether you output svideo or rgb via the scart socket. Also (as I understand it), if you output RGB on region 1, then you circumnavigate NTSC, so if your tv can`t cope with ntsc, RGB should solve the problem.
For a decent scart, try http://www.beyondhifi.net, and look at the B-Tech range - much cheaper than the high street, and excellent quality.
