Page 1 of can`t play region 2 dvd
Hardware Forum
:/ Just bought cool money, but it`s a region 2, I never heard of such a thing till now. I have a Magnavox dvd recorder model No. ZV450MW8A. I`ve searched the list of codes and this dvd player is not listed. Can anyone help?
Unless you`ve had a long hibernation or been living in a rain forest for the last 10-15 years DVDs are region coded. Looking at your user name with AU in it you are from Australia where the standard is Region 4 and region 2 is specific to European/Uk locales.
0 Informal term meaning "worldwide". Region 0 is not an official setting; discs that bear the region 0 symbol either have no flag set or have region 1-6 flags set.
1 Canada, United States; U.S. territories; Bermuda
2 Western and Central Europe; Western Asia; Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho; United Kingdom, Turkey, French overseas territories
3 Southeast Asia; South Korea; Taiwan; Hong Kong
4 Australia; New Zealand; Oceania; Central and South America; Caribbean; Mexico
5 Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Africa, Central and South Asia, Mongolia, North Korea.
6 China
7 Reserved for future use (found in use on protected screener copies of MPAA-related DVDs and "media copies" of pre-releases in Asia)
8 International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, etc.[1]
ALL Region ALL discs have all 8 flags set, allowing the disc to be played in any locale on any player.
So welcome to the forum, or if this looks like what it is and you`ll spam the fcuk out of us with a way to get round your problem - Feck off
RE: can`t play region 2 dvd
I know Magnavox as a North American brand (part of Philips at one time).
So it`s probably set for Region 1
