Ok, dolby digital you need a decoder, DTS you need a DTS decoder and player (plus DTS recorded disc). Whats the score with THX?

That`s true, George Lucas set it up to ensure films released under this banner were guarenteed to be of the best quality.
The next step up from DTS has to be SDDS, which i believe is equivalent to 7.1 (it makes a point of having 5 front speakers giving a much better perception of depth and width of field that the three associated with 5.1... apparently)

Forgot to mention DTS-ES which is 6.1 and uses a pro logic style decoder loop on the two rear channels to give a centre rear channel. i think that`s all...
