Page 1 of Wharf 750 no longer plays VCDs

I have a problem with my Wharfedale 750 no longer playing VCDs (same disks it used to play quite happily).
When a VCD is inserted it spins it up a cpouple of times to try and then times out. Some of the old disks still manage to get palying now and again but not always.
All other disks play OK (DVD, CD, CDR, CDRW). This happens with new VCDs as well as old ones.

I have tried cleaning the lens with IPA but still no success.

If anyone can help I would much appreciate it
