Does this seem like a good entry level Surround Sound setup?
I`ve changed my mind again! I was going to go for the Sony HTK475, but have now seen a similar `setup` for slightly cheaper. The Sony STRDE875 AV receiver, which as far as I can tell is the next model up from the receiver bundled with the HTK475 package, and is currently £199 at Richersounds. For the speakers, the Sony SAVE225 package, which is the same speaker/sub set contained with the HTK475, and £160 from Empire Direct. So, just a better amp than the 475, but still only £360.
Does this sem any good for a semi-budget/entry level system?
Any input before departing with my squids greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Hodge.

Are you desperate for a Sony kit? I might suggest the following, which is along the same lines as your thoughts, but with Yamaha instead:
Yamaha RXV520RDS - £179 Richer Sounds
Yamaha NSP320 speaker pack - £136 http://www.qed-uk.com (http://www.qed-uk.com/?i=YBNGY0dkKsc3&bg=216&bp=p320b&v=8 links to the product).
The Yamaha HTiB (which comprises the 420 and the NSP220) won Best One-box system under £500 in 2001 What Hi Fi awards, so you get a more powerful version of the same amp, plus beefier speakers, all for £315.

That`s really weird that you asked that Hodge!
I`ve gone for that exact setup that you mentioned. Went for it mainly because I wanted Silver to go with my TV, DVD, Video and seperates.
Can`t comment on it just yet because I haven`t got the speaker package yet due to delays over the bank holiday.
If you are going for the setup, get the speakers now because they`ve been discontinued so once they`re gone, they`re gone!

Why didn`t/don`t you go for the Sony HTK215 ?
Silver, entry level, award winner, £280 all in.
Just wondering.
Cheers

Nice idea Bowf.
The only problem is it only outputs at 30W if I`m correct. The amp in question outputs 100W therefore it`s easier to upgrade to larger speakers when you can afford to.
