Mico Classica 20

Steve-D (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 23rd April 2002, 15:14

I have just got mine and it plays DVD,s fine but not audio CD`s with additional CD-ROM data i.e. most CD singles which include Quick time video. I don`t expect it to play the quick time, but I did expect it to play the audio tracks. I have contacted the Mico help lline and they say that this formate is not supported.
Can anyone tell m if the older software versions played CD singles, and if the other Mico DVD players do?
Secondly does anyone know if the Dansai 1010 DVD play CD singles? How does this player compair with the Mico?

Hi - yes I had the same problem so took mine back and got a refund because as far as I`m concerned an enhanced CD is a bog standard audio CD. Although you may be wrong about Quicktime, as none of my CD singles would play (they had both Quicktime and mpeg versions), but the Dido No Angel CD did play and that just had Quicktime video. Can`t answer you question re old firmware and I`d already posted the same question before returning mine and got no response.
Can`t answer you question regarding the Dansai 1010, but the Dansai 852 plays them no problem. As far as I can tell the 1010 is the same as the 852 minus an LED display and possibly no Macrovision disable. All I can say is that plays everything that the Mico did + enhanced CD`s + minDVD and the performance quality is virtually the same, although the Mico did seem to have a better RGB picture (composite and s-video were the same). The build quality of the Dansai is not as good as the Mico though. Good luck

Hi,

I`ve got the original Mico 20 with macro disable but it still does not play enhanced cd singles, but will play normal cd singles. Hope this answers your query!

I have just recieved a software update CD from Mico and the DVD player now plays all audio CD`s including those with PC applications on then. Mico have been very helpful in fixing this problem. Its been a pleasure dealing with then! If you want to play enhanced audio CD`s on your mico Classica 20 contact joe at "selas[at]kh.moc.ocim" for an upgrade disc.
One point to note if you have an older machine (pre april 2002) with macro disable you will not be able to disable it after the upgrade. The muilt reagion hack still works!
