Page 1 of Amp Set-up (Sony HTK215)
Hardware Forum
I have a Sony HTK215 and need some advice about the settings. The manual might as well be in Chinese as far as I`m concerned!
I`m not sure what to set the "Dist" option at. My lounge is rectangular and my speakers are set at the following distances apart (TV in far right corner).
Centre - on top of TV (about 8/9ft from me)
Fronts - each about 3ft from TV
Rears - one on either side of the sofa, each about 4 ft from me.
Can anyone tell me what I should set "Dist" at?
Thanks
Dave

Don`t know that amp, but generally it is the distance from the speaker to the amp, I think - there might then be a setting for the distance of your seating position to the amp. It`s all to help set up the delay in sound between the rears and fronts. You`ll probably find the default settings are OK anyway. The distance would usually be measured lengthwise down the room, not side to side (so don`t worry about the distance of fronts to the TV, for instance).
HTH - not very authoritive, I`m afraid....
Surely its the distance from the speaker to your listening position?
If you sit nearer the rears, you don`t won`t their sound delayed behind the fronts just cos the fronts happen to be nearer tha amp.

Thanks Richard,
I mucked about with the settings last night and "think" I have found the right level (probably WAY off!).
