OK - Any recommendations for a cheap Home-Cinema/Surround Sound system?? (PLEASE!!)

I don`t mind if it`s an "all-in-one" system, or seperate dvd, amp/speakers.

What I would like is it to be:

- around or under £350
- able to play Dolby Pro-Logic through TV/video/Sky
- preferably play DTS
- easily remote hackable for multi-region

Any info etc. would be really appreciated!!

CHEERS!!

Hulk,

Argos has the following for £350...(on the website)

Hitachi HTDK150 Home Cinema System.

It`s an all in one system - no idea how it performs though.

It may be what you`re looking for.

Dave

Hulk, if you have £350 to spend there is a fair bit out there these days, as prices fall. However, you will need to make your own decision on whether you want the convenience of an `all-in-one`, or the undoubted better quality of separates. I know where my tastes lie (see my posting on my new DD/DTS system on this forum), but not everyone wants all those cables and separate units! You pays your money............ I recently bought a system of separates from Richer Sounds, as they are offering an Aiwa DD/DTS receiver for £149.95, and you could then buy a set of Gale Moviestar 3 speakers for £20 extra, instead of their usual price of £99.95!! (they`re two floorstanders, one centre and two smaller surrounds, in Black). However it was possible to change up either item for something better at extra cost from a set list, so I went for a Sherwood RD6103R RDS DD/DTS receiver (More digital inputs) at £179.95 (instead of £250), and was lucky enough to pursuade them to part with a set of Gale Moviestar 5`s for the same £20 price as the 3`s (look at them on their site), they`re better looking, and have better drive units, and are finished in a very smart cherry beech colour and were originally £250 but selling for £120 (but now £20!)........ Christ, if your still with me you`ve done well!!......... It`s a fabulous looking and sounding system and cost me only £219.95 inc. carriage! Now Richer will sell you a Toshiba Multi-region Dvd player for only £119, so as you can see, your within your budget! But I don`t know if Richer would still do the Moviestar 5`s for £20 again. (I know it might seem as if they could be cheap and nasty, but they certainly don`t look and sound it). Anyway, hope this helps. Roger

It doesn`t play DTS but I`ve got a surplus Videologic Digitheatre for sale. Pick your own DVD player to go with it.
