Philips DVD 622 problem - freezing on power-up

Andy Tucker (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 1st June 2002, 17:12

Hi,

I have a problem with a Philips DVD 622. When I switch it on, it displays
six dashes on the display and then refuses to respond to any commands from the remote control or the front panel. Occasionally it will work fine if I
unplug it and leave it for a couple of minutes.

Any idea what is happening?

Andy

I have the same problem I think it is a generic fault ( at the rear of the manual, Phillips even admit to the machine freezing up) I have recently sent mine away for a different repair and unfortunatley I think we both bought a crap machine. I hope this helps a little

i have the philips dvd 622, and have not had any problems. assuming it is a recent purchase (like mine of less than 3 months), your machines are mult-regional. the 6 dashes would indicate it is scanning to see which which region it is set to.as this is no longer set, it appears that it is causing problems. i think your regional chip is at fault, or the software needs replacing. eitherway, a replacement should be sort.
the manual is no good, as it is out of date and states it is only set to region 2. good luck both, but mine works fine on all formats and i have never regreted purchasing it.
