Page 1 of Troubles with Widescreen TV
Hardware Forum
Hi dudes and ladies,
i`ve got a problem that has been niggling away at me for a few months.
About 2 months ago i exchanged my TV in at comet because the previous one had a fault and they didn`t repair them anymore, they just give u the purchase price back, I exchanged it for a TV the same price as previous...
The TV I`ve Got Now Has A Problem When Watching DVD`s, When U Go Close To The Screem U Can See Little... Not sure how to say this, Ants/Spekles On The Screen But when i sit down on the couch they aren`t visable
The TV is a Goodmans 32" 16:9 Widescreen.
I bought a Scart Ribbon (due to reccomendation from this forum) to see if that would fix/improve the problem but to no avail.
Some advice on what to do would be great, or any help on curing the problem.

RE: Troubles with Widescreen TV
If you mean the picture looks a little grainy then that is normal, the picture quality on a DVD is very good, but it isn`t perfect.
You will notice defects in the quality of the video easier if you look at the screen closely!

Hi
I have the 28 inch Goodmans from comet [ about 2 years old now ] and it sounds like either you have the sharpness set too high on the set or if your dvd player has multi sharpness settings try a lower one .It a bit like digital cameras and their pictures too much sharpness and the picture gets odd effects. You should find that you can set the tv for dvd and tv live without changing the sharpness for each one [ ie one setting for all ].
To check if its the tv look at the text in adverts to see the edges for odd effects.
Remember to save the new setting?
hope this helps.
R.B [ i use the s/video via scart to view dvds ] slightly better reds

Dolby Freak that ain`t it this happens b4 i play a DVD with the DVD player Main Menu....
and R.Baldwin, i`ve tried lowering the Sharpness to no avail.
OK... the only other thing that i think you could be seeing is the scan lines, again, that's normal, you can see them when you look closely at the screen...
If you have any, try playing an NTSC DVD, if the problem you are experiencing stays the same kind of problem but increases, then yes, it will be the scan lines you are seeing… Make any sense?
