Page 1 of Arctic Monkeys hype ridiculous!!!
Music Forum
Now I really do like the Arctic Monkeys and have their album, but I find the hype surrounding them ludicrous!! Yes they`re talented but they`re certainly not ground breaking and I don`t think theyll re-define the british music scene like bands ranging from the Beatles to The Stone Roses did. Its unsettling when the likes of Radio 1 are really hyping them to stupid levels. So much so that their upcoming tour sold out instantly and tickets costing £14 face value are going for £100 on ebay!! I feel sorry for bands like Hard Fi who are equally as good as the Arctic Monkeys but won`t prove as successful due to the media`s obsession
with the Arctic Monkeys. Rant over...
"Six bucks and my right nut say we`re not landing in Chicago..."
RE: Arctic Monkeys hype ridiculous!!!
Sadly I have to agree...
And anyway, I`ve heard that they`re a very cleverly marketed boy-band and aren`t the `real` group we imagine them to be. For a start, they don`t even write their own songs...
Giggity giggity!
RE: Arctic Monkeys hype ridiculous!!!
Yep, totally agree....
Got the album and it`s quite good, but people have been comparing it to Definitely Maybe and The Stone Roses.... which IMO is totally ridiculous!!
RE: Arctic Monkeys hype ridiculous!!!
I would never compair it to Definitely Maybe, but then again I think the Arctic monkeys album is good ;)
All the best,
Dr 42%er.
It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....

Bag o` shoite if you ask me. A good album from a good band, but as has been said, what`s with all the hype?
Isn`t it the done thing though, that the music media have to fawn over `the next big thing` every year, whilst the rest of us go, `yeah, it`s ok`
Live a life you love, use a god you trust, and don`t take it all too seriously
