Depeche Mode for Glasto?

The original 42pcenter MD (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 29th January 2009, 12:20

Blur, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young are a given, but there is meant to be one more big name for the Friday. Mode have a gap in the tour they will be on that fits. The other half has just treated me to a ticket, so if this romour is true along with the Orbital whisperings I will be a very happy boy.

Hmmm, I`m going Glasto.

Was personally hoping for the 4th headliner to be someone more current ala Queens of Stone Age or someone like that personally.

I think it`s the Saturday that has the additional 4th headliner they`ve said aswell. I`m assuming that Depeche Mode would be the 4th headliner?

I don`t know any Depeche Mode :o (not sure if that`s shock worthy or not).

Not a big fan or Blur, Springsteen or Neil Young either, but know that Springsteen is supposed to be awesome live, so listening to a lot of his stuff at the moment as it`s more a case of I`ve just never listened.

They`ll be added to my playlists if they are going Glasto. If they are 4th headliner then they are all due to be confirmed next Monday.

I`ll get probably get involved anyway though, as they are another of the band/acts etc that I should know..

Never done glasto, but the other half has been going for years. Mills, as Whoot says. You will know more than you think you do.

Just been on the Esfestivals website and apparenlty Depeche Mode are only free on the Friday so they won`t be the 4th headliner, but they are rumoured to be there.

Esfestivals are usually really good on rumours aswell by the way. All the papers etc got the Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young rumours from there (they even were asked to pull the story for a few days after they originally showed it).

Other that are apparently highly likely to be on

Kasier Chiefs :¦
Lily Allen: Could be alright in afternoon slot if we get sunshine.
Kanye West
Madness
The Specials
Franz Ferdinand
Fatboy Slim
Fleetwood Mac
Tom Jones

I`m pretty certain either weren`t there last year. :p (Only year I`ve been though)

Although that increases the chances they are there this year.

There is a lot of secret gigs though, which is what I really enjoyed.

Not a massive Franz Ferdinand fan, but last year on the first day we walking around and some guy in waterproof anorak was handing out flyers in the rain and the girls next to us started screaming and asking for photos to be taken.

It was the leader singer just handing out flyers for it as they were playing a secret gig up on one of the small stages. I was highly impressed with that banter and would have gone but it clashed with Kings of Leon.

Also The Last of The Shadow Puppets did a secret gig at the same stage and then midway through Jack White comes on does a little guitar solo mid-song then walks off to let them finish. :D

Hoping for more of the same this year.

I`m full of s***.

Fatboy Slim was there, but at the same time as Kings of Leon, which again is why he probably was disregarded from the list as they were one of my few must see bands last year.
